From Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn, this trail joins the 2 capitals of skiing and alpinism : Chamonix and Zermatt.
Called the "Haute Route", the ski tour is a trip high on any ski tourer’s list.

Level of the ski tour

The Haute Route is for those with a good level of fitness. Some ski touring experience is essential.

Programme of the Haute Route Chamonix Zermatt

Day 1 :
- Meeting point at the bottom of les Grands Montets cable car at 8am. Take the cable up to the Aiguille des Grands Montets et ski down until the glacier of ARgentiere(2500m).
- Walk up to the Col du Passon(3028m) ; ski down to the glacier of Le Tour
- Col du Tour (3282m) ; Cabane de Trient (3170m).
(D + = 918m / D - = 1030m.)

Day 2 :
- Ski down to the glacier of Trient, walk up to the col des Ecandies (2796), and descent of the val d’Arpette to Champex (1490m);
- Transfer to the Châble ; cable car of Montfort (3308m),
- Ascent of the Rosablanche (3336m) and ski dow to the cabane de Prafleuri (2662m).
(D + = 800m / D - = 2300m.)

Day 3 : Lac des Dix (2390m) through the col des Roux (2804m) and walk up to the Pas du Chat and to the refuge des Dix (2928m).

(D + = 700m / D - = 400m.)

Day 4 :  Pigne d’Arolla (3796m) :
- Ski up in the morning in the north face
- You will reach the cabane des Vignettes (3160m).
(D + = 900m /  D - = 650m.)

Day 5 : Col de l’Evèque (3380m), col Collon (3082m), ski down to the glacier of Arolla and to the Plan de Bertol (2600m) ; ski up to the cabane Bertol . (3311m).
(D + = 1000m /D - = 800m.)

Day 6 :
- Ascent to Tête Blanche (3710m); breathtaking view on different summits : Cervin, Dent d’Hérens, dent Blanche,…we will look at the great descent to the glacier of Stöcki which will lead us to Zermatt, where we will enjoy a beer !
- Transfer to Chamonix in the evening.
(D + = 400m / D - =1200m.)

Guiding

The Chamonix Zermatt ski tour will be led by an high mountain guide of Evolution 2 Chamonix.

Group size

Groups are from 3 to 6 people per high mountain guide.

Accommodation during the ski trip

You will sleep in mountain refuges.
