From Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn, this beautiful hike is a classic alpine route with incredible views.
Programme of the Chamonix Zermatt trip
Day 1 : Chamonix / Le Tour / telecabine col de Balme (2160m) /refuge Albert 1er (2702m). A path along the mountainside next to the Le Tour glacier.Day 2 : col du Tour (3282m) / traverse Trient glacier / descent Orny glacier. Night in Champex (1480m).
Day 3 : Transfer to Mauvoisin lake (2042m)/ traverse cols: Lire Rose (3115m) / Mont Rouge (3325m) / Cheilon (3243m). Night in the Dix refuge (2928m).
Day 4 : Ascent of Pigne d’Arolla (3790m) / descent from the glacier to Vignettes hut (3194m).
Day 5 : Traverse col de l’Evèque (3386m) / descent Arolla glacier to Plan de Bertol (2600m) climb to Bertol hut (3311m). Night in this amazing location, perched on the mountainside.
Day 6 : Climb to Tête Blanche (3710m) fantastic views of the Matterhorn / descent of Stocki glacier, night in the Schönbiel hut (2964m).
Day 7 : Back to the alpages from the high mountains, descent to Zermatt, lunch in a restaurant ; return to Chamonix.
